Privacy Policy for EZ Dog Tracks

This privacy policy describes how EZ Dog Tracks ("the app") handles your data. My approach is simple: Your data belongs to you, and as a rule, I do not have access to it.

1. Data Collection

EZ Dog Tracks collects information required to track dog training trails:

  • Location Data (GPS): The app collects precise location data to draw your route on the map, calculate distances, and provide audio notifications at markers.
  • Background Location: Since the app is designed to track trails while the phone is in your pocket, location data is also collected when the screen is off or the app is minimized (as long as a tracking session is active).
  • User-Provided Data: Trail names and comments that you voluntarily choose to save.

2. Data Storage

All your trail data (coordinates, markers, names, and notes) is stored exclusively on your own device in a private database. The data never leaves your phone unless you specifically choose to use the sharing feature.

3. Sharing Trails (Upload)

The app includes a feature to share your trails with others.

  • Voluntary Action: Your data is only sent to my server (www.kroning.dk) if you explicitly tap the "Share" icon for a specific trail.
  • Purpose: The data is uploaded solely to generate a shareable link that you can send to others so they can view the trail.
  • No Monitoring: I do not use this data for anything other than making it possible for you to share it.

4. App Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

  • Precise Location (GPS): Required to measure and draw the trail.
  • Background Location: Required so that tracking does not stop when the screen is turned off.
  • Notifications: Used to show a persistent message with time and distance while you are tracking, and to ensure that Android does not close the app in the background.
  • Internet Access: Used to load maps from Google Maps and to upload trails if you choose to share them.

5. Third-Party Services

The app uses the Google Maps API for map display. By using the app, you are also bound by Google’s Privacy Policy, which can be found here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

6. Data Deletion

You can delete any saved trail at any time directly within the app under "My Tracks". If you delete the app itself from your phone, all locally stored data will be automatically deleted by the Android system.
